Charles Wayne “Charlie” Sumner, age 76, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on November 30, 2025, at his home. Charlie was born December 11, 1948, in Evansville, IN, to Charles M. and Vera L. (Phelps) Sumner.
He graduated from North High School in 1967. Charlie proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart for his service. He later worked as the Director of Safety at Sterling Boiler.
Charlie was a member of VFW Post 1114, American Legion Post 265, and a lifelong member of the NRA. He loved listening to blues and rock ’n’ roll music.
Charlie is survived by his daughters, Kacy Peete (Greg), and Shelly Krapf; and his grandchildren, Benjamin, Mallory, and Samuel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, LaVonne Hall.
Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Chaplain Glenn Skeens officiating with Kapperman Post 44 rending military rites. Burial will be private in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
