Charmene V. (Fisher) Smith, age 85, of Evansville, IN, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
Charmene was born December 18, 1939, in Norfolk, VA, to Leon and Virginia (Schaad) Fisher. She graduated from Bosse High School in 1958. Charmene cherished life and was a lover of all things blingy. She loved shopping, gardening, traveling, reading books, and, more than anything, her family. She was a special wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and friend to all who were blessed to know her. She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter Bailey, and taking her to the movies and visiting bookstores, where she shared her love of literature.
Charmene was an avid decorator, especially at Christmas time. She and Jerry enjoyed traveling to places like the Great Smoky Mountains, Maine, Michigan and many other destinations. She was such a kindhearted person. She treasured helping those in need; including raising the many stray animals her daughter would bring home as a child. She inspired people to be better, and you couldn’t help by walk away a better person for having known her.
Charmene was an amazing listener and always ready with sage bits of advice. She was fun loving and had a wonderful sense of humor. She had an amazing work ethic and enjoyed working at Jerry’s CPA firm - Brown, Smith and Settle until they both retired in 2013. Most notably, Charmene lived her life on her terms until the end. She will be missed significantly.
Charmene is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jerry Smith; daughter, Chantel Pierce (Scott); grandchildren, Bailey Renaud, Shelby Marx (Cameron), and Casey Pierce; great grandchildren, Bristol, Baker, and Aiden Marx; and brother-in-law, Dennis Smith (Mary).
Special family members: John Curtis (Robin), Leslie Curtis, Victoria Peters (Dustin), Brock Curtis, Michayla and Elizabeth Curtis.
Charmene is preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
