Cheryl A. (Brittain) Stevens, age 75, of Evansville, IN, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital – Newburgh, surrounded by her family.
Cheryl was born July 20, 1948, in Portsmouth, VA, to Robert and Christine (Hunt) Brittain. She proudly served her country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. In her 50s, she went back to school and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Phoenix University. Cheryl worked briefly in nursing, worked as a 911 Dispatch Operator for Mt. Vernon and Posey County area for over 20 years, and she worked as a Clerical Contractor in the National Security Company before retiring. She loved being an Assistant Scout Master in Posey County, and she enjoyed all the camping and other activities. Cheryl was very creative, and she enjoyed woodworking in her younger years and sewing her later years. She loved making blankets, throw pillows, purses, Christmas stockings, etc. for her friends and family.
Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Linda Kincheloe (Paul) of Evansville, IN; sons, Timothy “Tim” Stevens (Donna) of Mt. Vernon, IN, Donald “Donny” Stevens of Springdale, AR, and David A. Stevens of Mt. Vernon; twin sister, Carol Lisor of Phoenix, AZ; and 6 grandchildren.
Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Christine Brittain; and brother, Michael Brittain.
Celebration of Life and Burial will be Private.
