Cindy Merkley Obituary

Cindy L. (Blanford) Merkley, 62, left her earthly home for heaven’s pearly gates on December 9, 2023, surrounded by her family, at the Linda E. White Hospice House after a brief and unexpected illness.

Cindy is survived by her best friend and the love her life, Timothy Merkley; mother, Norma Blanford; aunt, Erma Kingston; daughters, Sarah (Scott), Abby (Matt), and Allie (Jon); grandchildren, Molly, Lily Mae, Griffin, Gwendolyn, and Madelyn; siblings, Sherry Oakley (Dennis), Timmy Blanford, Todd Blanford (Cheryl), Scott Blanford (Rachel), and John Blanford; brother-in-laws/sister-in-laws, Betty Brewster (Dan), John Merkley (Donna), Bill Merkley (Becky); as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her best friend, Misty Hinton, who Mom referred to as the “Lucy to her Ethel”.

Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Walter Blanford.

Cindy was born to Norma and Walter Blanford on November 15, 1961. She was a member of The Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Evansville. She graduated from Harrison High School and went on to get her LPN license from the Deaconess School of Nursing where she went on to work for Deaconess Hospital and then eventually Deaconess Clinic for a total of 33 years. She met many wonderful co-workers turned friends through her years working as a nurse. She especially enjoyed her years working with Dr. Anne D’Alessandri, Dr. Ruston Stoltz, and Philip Anderson NP.

Cindy was better known as “Ninney” by her favorite people, her grandchildren for the last 12 years. She was truly one of a kind and was always looking to help others before herself. Cindy loved to go camping especially around Halloween with her husband, dog Bo, and her kids/grandkids. She was also a huge Disney fan and some of her favorite memories involve her kids/grandkids and visiting the castle wearing her Minnie Mouse Ears. Cindy loved spending time with her family, attending her kids and grandchildren’s extracurricular activities, hosting family dinners and game nights.

Cindy will be cremated and a celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 15, 2023, at The Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 1811 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN 47714.
