Connie Barker Obituary

Connie Sue (Harmon) Barker, age 79, of Evansville, IN, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024.

Connie was born November 5, 1944, in Hoytville, OH, to Vernon and Florence (Powell) Harmon. She attended Hoytville High School until her Junior Year and graduated from McComb High School in 1962.  Connie was a Cheerleader and Homecoming Queen for both HHS and MHS, and she fell for McComb’s star athlete, Ed.  She was a long-time member of Crossroads Christian Church. Connie enjoyed shopping, meeting friends for lunch,  and watching IU and OSU basketball. She especially loved attending her sons’ sporting events and giving the coaches advice as well as attending her grandchildren’s activities.

Connie is survived by her daughter, Lynette Shekell of Evansville, IN; sons, Joe Barker (Stacie) of Newburgh, IN, Darren Barker (Elizabeth) of Naples, FL, and Bryan Barker (Jamie) of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Benjamin Shekell, Christopher and Katie Barker, Paige Kagan (Shawn) and Sarah Barker, and twins, Kate Barker and Lily Barker; sister, Marna Smith (Philip) of Bowling Green, OH; and many nieces and nephews.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Florence Harmon; husband of 43 years, Edward Jay Barker, who passed away in 2009, and brother, Merrill Harmon.

A Private Family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
