Connie Lee (Smith) Martin

Connie Lee (Smith) Martin, age 77, of Newburgh, IN, passed away October 6, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.

Connie was born February 25, 1946, in Huntington, IN, to William and Winifred (Beghtel) Smith. She graduated from Jefferson Township High School as Valedictorian in 1964. Connie married her childhood sweetheart, James "Jim" Martin, December 27, 1964. Connie had many jobs throughout her life, none as important to her as loving wife, mother and grandmother. Connie is remembered most for her unconditional love and devotion to her God, family, and friends. To know Connie is to love Connie and be loved by Connie. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Connie is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, James P. "Jim" Martin; sons, Troy Martin (Deanna) and Trent Martin (Holly); sisters, Susie Higgs, Sherry Zook, and Donna Little (Gene); grandchildren, Claire (Dakota), Rebecca, Taylor, and Holden; and many nieces and nephews.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents, William and Winifred Smith; sister, Billie Carleen Hinkle; and brothers-in-law, Stephen Higgs, Larry Zook, and Mike Martin.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. CST, Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Danny Barr officiating.

Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until service time CST, Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.

Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. EST, Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Mount Etna Cemetery, 9 West 600 South, Warren, IN.
