Cynthia "Cindy" Evans Obituary

Cynthia A. (Locker) Evans, “Grandma Cindy”, cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, went to rest with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at the age of 71.

Cindy was born November 2, 1951, in Evansville, IN, to Lloyd Locker and Mary (Vickers) Locker. After graduating from Harrison High School, Cindy married her high school sweetheart Bill Evans on April 4, 1970. They were married for 52 years before Bill passed away in October, 2022.

Cindy was the best of all mothers to her children Christy, Chad, Robby and Jenny. She loved being with them more than anything in the world. Cindy was blessed with nine grandchildren - Charlie, Cade, Daisy, Sarelle, Isla, Oliver, Hannah, Solomon and Ben; and two great-grandchildren, Marrik and Ava. Cindy had a magical way with children and could put a smile on any child’s face, especially her grandchildren.

Cindy devoted her life to Jesus, her family and her friends. She led several people to Christ through teaching Sunday School, serving as a BSF leader, starting the Evansville Wildlife Chapter, and leading Bible Study from her home. When she became an “empty nester,” she co-owned and operated ShredX, a local document destruction company. Even as a business owner, she dedicated her work to Jesus and treated her employees like they were family.

Cindy loved to bake! Cindy served others by delivering her homemade soups, lasagna and delicious baked treats to people when they were struggling, sick, or just needed to know that someone cared about them. She was best known for her delicious dinner rolls, pies and cinnamon rolls.

Cindy was an endless blessing to her friends and family. She was always encouraging and made everyone feel important and valued. She was a bright light in the world. Her character leaves a legacy that will be with us forever.
