Daniel D. Dickens, age 92, of Evansville, IN, passed peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at St. Vincent Hospital – Evansville with his family by his side.
Daniel was born March 11, 1928, in Chandler, IN, to the late Elva “Comer” Dickens and Laurena M. (Schmitz) Dickens. Daniel married the love of his life, Mary Fulps on March 22, 1947. He worked as a spray painter at Imperial Desk Company, and with Holsclaw Trailers. Daniel retired from Evansville Metal in 1991 as a painter in their fabrication shop. He attended Fairlawn United Methodist Church.
Daniel was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed planting and working in his garden. He enjoyed watching the squirrels, rabbits and birds in the back yard under the big Oak tree. Daniel was an Indianapolis Colts fan and loved watching their games. In his early years, Daniel was a Golden Glove Boxer.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 73 1/2 years, Mary E. Dickens; daughter, Linda Joyce Hutton (Dennis); brother, Elva J. “Junior” Dickens (Sandra); six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents; son, David Alan Dickens and brother, Charles H. Dickens.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Don Cavins officiating.
