Darin Wayne Murphy, 56, of Evansville, Indiana, was born on December 21, 1969, and passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
Darin was a true music lover, enjoying all genres, and a devoted wrestling fan- especially of his favorite, John Cena. He cherished weekends spent camping at Kentucky Lake with his mother and stepfather, creating memories that lasted a lifetime. He worked for many years at ARC, where he built skills, friendships, and a sense of purpose.
He is survived by his aunts and uncles; Mary Schmeing (Doug), Barbara Bealmear (Stan), Jerry Fenwick, Faye Crews, and Jean Hayden; his brother, Michael Shane Murphy; half‑brother, Bobby Murphy; and half‑sister, Laquita Murphy. He is also survived by his niece, Cheyenne Stocker; nephew, Tyler Murphy; cousin and guardian, Tina Sullenger‑Burklow (Floyd), Chelsea Sullenger (Bryce), Lindsey Sullenger; and many other extended family members. Darin leaves behind great friends and roommates through Apex Behavioral Health, who were an important part of his life. Especially his best buddies, Alex and Steve.
Darin was preceded in death by his father, Butch Murphy, mother, Joyce McDonald; and his stepfather, Robert McDonald.
A private celebration of life will be held by the family.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank‑you to Apex Behavioral Health for the years of support and companionship they provided Darin, as well as to the Deaconess Gateway third‑floor ICU staff for their exceptional and loving care.
