Darlene Marie (Roberts) Brackett

Darlene Marie Brackett (Roberts), 88, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.

Darlene was born on April 25, 1937, in Poseyville, Indiana, to the late Herdis and Helen Roberts. She devoted her life to her family as a loving homemaker and worked tirelessly alongside her late husband, Wayman Brackett. Together they owned and operated Brackett Heating & Air, their family business, where Darlene dedicated many years of hard work and support. 

Known for her joyful spirit and vibrant personality, Darlene was truly the life of the party and always enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She loved shopping—especially trips to Dillards—cheering on the Evansville Aces, and cherished her visits to Daytona Beach. Above all, she treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Darlene had a heart for ministry and faithfully supported causes close to her heart, including Light for the Lost and Aged Ministers. She also loved southern gospel music and was a lifelong fan of Elvis Presley.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayman Brackett; her parents, Herdis and Helen Roberts; and her sister, Ruth Johnson (Walter Johnson).

Darlene is survived by her children, Carla Boulware (Troy Boulware) and David Brackett; her sister, Shirley Rice (Ron Rice) of Michigan; and her grandchildren, Morgan Barrans, Mallory Jordan (Scott Jordan), Mackenzie Kneeves (Tyler Kneeves), Bryce Brackett (Kara Brackett), and Andrew Brackett (Jordyn Brackett).

She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren: Kennedy, Brynn, Finnley, and Brooks Barrans; Knox, Kruze, Indie, and Jhett Jordan; Loui, Lennon, and Luxe Kneeves; Kolten, Beckham, Haddon, and Callum Brackett; and Aspen, Teagan, and Tatem Brackett.

Her faith was the foundation of her life, and her family finds comfort in knowing she is now in the presence of the Lord she loved so dearly.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Abundant Life Community Church, 7333 Sharon Road, Newburgh, Indiana 47630 with Pastor Troy Boulware officiating. Entombment will be in private in Oak Hill Mausoleum.

Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service, Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Abundant Life Community Church.
