Darryl "Bubby" Duncan Obituary

Darryl "Bubby" C. Duncan, age 47, of Evansville, IN, passed away Friday, October 25, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital – Evansville.

To our family and friends:

We gather to honor the life and legacy of Darryl Duncan, a loving husband, father, entrepreneur, and pillar of our community. Darryl's sudden passing leaves a void in our lives, but his unwavering love, kindness, and dedication will forever be etched in our hearts. As we celebrate his life, we take comfort in his final words: "Celebrate my life with a good drink of whiskey, some good fried chicken, smiles, laughter, and fun." He didn't want tears or expensive farewells; instead, he desired a joyful sendoff, surrounded by loved ones.

Darryl's life was a testament to his faith, family, and community. As a third-generation semi-trucker, he partnered with Duff Diesel, building a reputation for excellence. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Smart Barns Storage Sheds, a thriving business. For over 25 years, Darryl constructed over 13,000 buildings in the Tri-State area, leaving a lasting impact. His craftsmanship reflected his commitment to excellence.

Darryl cherished his 20-plus years of marriage to Kara and their four precious children: Skylar, August, Ivie, and Chevy. As a devoted father, Darryl taught valuable life lessons, instilling hard work, kindness, and compassion. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Darryl had a passion for fishing. He and his dear friend, Rob, shared countless adventures on the water, reeling in memories that will last a lifetime. Darryl's pride and joy was catching bass at Bluegrass Lake, but one remarkable feat stood out – catching over 1,000 fish on a single pole in one year! His infectious enthusiasm and love for the sport inspired those around him.

We remember Darryl for the following qualities: His unwavering commitment to family, his unrelenting work ethic and dedication, his infectious laughter and warm smile, his generous spirit, and his love for fishing and the great outdoors.

To Kara and the children:

We offer our deepest condolences. May Darryl's final wishes bring comfort during this difficult time.

As we say goodbye, we take solace in these beautiful memories: Family gatherings filled with laughter, late-night conversations about life and faith, pride in his eyes when talking about his children, countless stories of lives changed through kindness, and fishing tales of "the big catch" and adventures with Rob.

Darryl's legacy lives on through the following:  Buildings that stand as testaments to skill and dedication, hearts touched by generosity and compassion, family that loves and misses him dearly, thriving businesses – Smart Barns Storage Sheds and Duff Diesel, and the memories of his fishing exploits, inspiring future generations.

Born August 5, 1977, he spent 47 incredible years blessing those around him. Rest in peace, Darryl Duncan. Your impact will never fade.
