David Cates Obituary

David E. Cates, age 80, of Evansville, IN, passed peacefully on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Hamilton Pointe in Newburgh, IN.

David was born July 3, 1941, in Madisonville, KY, to Paul and Imogene (Furgerson) Cates. He graduated from Bosse High School in 1959. He attended Henderson Community College and The University of Evansville. David retired in 2011 as the owner of Thermoseal Co., Inc. He enjoyed restoring old cars into street rods, especially his 1940 Pontiac Coupe. David had a love for all animals. He had quick witted sense of humor with a kind and gentle heart. David was loved by all those who knew him and he will be missed dearly.

David is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Jane (Voight) Cates: daughters, Lori Cates Hand (Jason), Kelli Cates (Seth Whitaker); identical twin brother, Julian Cates (Holly); brother Larry Cates (Carol); granddaughter, Cate Hand.

David is preceded in death by his parents.

Private Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 2021, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Dave Mills officiating. A Live Stream link will be available beginning twenty minutes prior to the service time. A Public Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 2021 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.
