David J. Dixon, age 90, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 12:36 p.m. on Friday, December 25, 2020, at River Pointe Health Campus.
David was born September 25, 1930, in Evansville, IN, to Edythe Opal (Hoover) Winstead. He was a 1949 graduate of Bosse High School and went on to graduate from Butler University in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacology. Throughout his life, David worked as a Pharmacist for St. Mary’s Medical Center, H.A. Woods Drugs, Medical Arts Pharmacy, Decaoness Hospital, and Health South Rehabilitation Hospital. He attended St. James East United Methodist Church for 60 years and then McCutchanville Community Church when the two churches merged. David enjoyed raising pine trees, especially during the Christmas Season.
David is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sara Dixon; daughter, Kathy Ellerbrook (Larry); son, Douglas Dixon (Patricia); step-daughter Melanie Lowe – Futrell (Jimmy); step-son, Kenneth Blake Lowe (Nancy); grandchildren, Michael Ellerbrook (Lindsey) and Clay Ellerbrook (Mallory); and 3 great-grandchildren.
David is preceded in death by his mother, Edythe; sons, Steve Dixon in 1985 and John Dixon in 1997; and step-father, Maylon Winstead.
Graveside Services will be private. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
