David Bruce Hale, age 71, of Evansville, IN, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, March 1, 2025 at home.
David was born November 24, 1953, in Evansville, IN, to Leonard and Margaret (Jones) Hale. He attended Central High School for a time and graduated from North High School in 1971. He was a faithful member of Christian Fellowship Church and was active in the CFC Veteran Ministry Steering Committee. He helped lead the direction of the ministry and enjoyed their monthly fellowship and coffee times. David loved the Lord, loved his church, and loved his pastor. He loved singing with his family in church, and he enjoyed listening to music, especially Old Time Religion songs and Oldies. David’s favorite job was with Brandt Company, working with ATMs and bank equipment. After 29 years of service, he came to know numerous people through all of his visits to the different banks. He later worked as a Warranty Administrator for Ruxer Truck Center before retiring in October 2024.
After dating for 9 months, he proposed to the love of his life, Janet in a friend’s plane while overlooking the Ohio River. They enjoyed spending time together, and they loved their scenic drives, with their favorite destination being Turtle Bay. He was all about his family – they were his whole world. He loved all their get-togethers, and he looked forward to hosting their annual bonfire when the weather cooled off in October or November. David was so very proud of his grandchildren and loved them dearly.
David never served in the Armed Forces, but he loved the Military and had a passion for Veterans. He was active in the Veteran’s program at his church. He and Janet organized several fundraisers for the Evansville Honor Flight, and he was able to accompany a Veteran from CFC on his Honor Flight in 2024. Wherever the opportunity presented itself, he was sure to thank a Veteran for their service.
He and Janet loved attending local Car Shows. They hosted their own in 2023: Point Man Car Show. It was an absolute success with 165 in attendance, and their second one is set to be this May: Veteran Outpost Car Show. He was a three-year member of the Evansville Iron Club and enjoyed attending the Frog Follies for about 45 years. David loved tinkering in his pole barn building remote control airplanes and hotrods. He began flying his remote airplanes in 1998, and he was a member of the RC Club. He built a P47 model that is on display today at the Evansville Wartime Museum.
David is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Janet Marie (Walker) Hale; children, Nickole Hale, Brent Richter (Nakia), Nick Hale (Amanda), and Nicole Richter (Matt Corrow); siblings, Beverly Boardman, Jetta Wilcox (Doug), Danny Hale (Wanda), and Becky Harris (John Paul); grandchildren, Khristian, Wynter, Bailey, Brody, and Levi; and many nieces and nephews.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Margaret Hale; and brother, Steve Hale.
