Deborah Joy "Debby" Snyder Obituary

Deborah Joy (VerStrate) Snyder, age 69, of Evansville, IN, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital – Evansville.

Debby was born on July 11, 1955, in Grand Rapids, MI, to Harold VerStrate and Joyce (Patterson) Pellerito. She graduated from Greenville High School and attended Hyles-Anderson College. Debby retired from Old National Bank after 33 years of working in the Wire Transfer Department. She and Arnold were Charter Members of Beth Haven Baptist Church in Sheridan, MI, where she also taught for their Christian School. After moving to Evansville, they joined Landmark Baptist Church, and she was actively involved by playing the piano, singing in the choir, directing the choir, teaching Sunday School, and serving as the Church Secretary. Debby loved the Lord and loved her church. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, crafting, and watching the Detroit Tigers. She especially loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Debby is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Arnold Wilbur Snyder; son, Jason Snyder (Brooke) of Evansville, IN; siblings, Gary VerStrate of Ludowici, GA, Harold VerStrate (Cheryl) of Airway Heights, WA, Carolyn Kirves (Greg) of Pensacola, FL, Robin Adema (John) of Wyoming, MI, Jonni Vandenburg (Jeff) of Fenwick, MI, Laura Ferguson (Matthew) of Saranac, MI, and Emma Kinney (Chuck) of Barryton, MI; sisters-in-law, Donna Snyder and Pam Snyder; brother-in-law, John Snyder; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Debby is preceded in death by her father, Harold VerStrate; mother and stepfather, Joyce and John Pellerito; parents-in-law, John and Roberta Snyder; brother, Michael VerStrate; sister-in-law, Linda VerStrate; brother-in-law, Bob Snyder; and sister- and brother-in-law, Ruth and Earl Hopkins.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. CST, Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Landmark Baptist Church at 1624 S. Helfrich Avenue, Evansville, with Pastor Phil Teaney, Pastor Sam Robinson, and Pastor Barry Kirves officiating. Burial will be Private in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. CST, Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Landmark Baptist Church.
