Dixie "Dee Dee" Parker Obituary

Dixie “Dee Dee” Parker, age 87, of Evansville, IN, went home to be with the Lord at 2:48 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Deaconess Hospital.

Dee Dee was born July 7, 1931, in Evansville, IN, to the late Edd and Martha (Neill) Parker. She graduated from Reitz High School in 1949.  Dee Dee was a member of Central United Methodist Church since 2003 and attended US Class Sunday School.

Dee Dee worked at Swift Packaging Company for many years. She also retired in 1993 from Crescent Plastics after many years. She enjoyed camping at Lincoln State Park in Lincoln City and at Audubon Park in Henderson. Dee Dee enjoyed most of her vacations on Mexico Beach in the Florida panhandle.

Dee Dee was a great painter and an excellent bowler. She bowled in 2 Senior Bowling Leagues: Schnucks and River City Lanes. Dee Dee continued bowling until she was 85 years old. She loved her basketball team, University of Kentucky Wildcats and was a huge fan of Notre Dame Football and Notre Dame’s women’s basketball teams. She went to many UK games as well as ND football and basketball games with her nephew and great-nephews in South Bend.

Dee Dee was a very generous and giving person, not only to her family and friends, but also to her church. She will never be forgotten. We’ll see you in Heaven, Dee Dee!

Dee Dee is survived by her sister, Dora Schwitz (Frank) of Evansville, IN; nephew, Mark Schwitz of Granger, IN; and great nephews, Ryan, Michael, and Matthew Schwitz.

The family would like to thank the Heritage Center at Holiday Healthcare for taking care of Dee Dee for the past 2 years. We knew she was in good hands. Also, we would like to say thank you to Deaconess Hospital for the last two weeks of her life.
