Dolores “Dodie” C. (Shadley) Eldridge, 76, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital.
Dodie was born January 29, 1949, in St. John, Missouri, unto Rex and Dolores (Fuchs) Shadley. She graduated from Ritenour High School in St. Louis, Missouri. Dodie married the love of her life, Paul “Wayne” Eldridge in May 1967. She was a wonderful woman who took care of the home and the children while moving around during Wayne’s long service in the Navy. In Dodie’s spare time, she enjoyed bowling and participated in numerous bowling leagues. She also loved her casino and gambling trips, and loved when she won. She was creative in her crafting, as well. She enjoyed making jewelry, crocheting, cross stitching, and painting ceramics. Above all else, Dodie loved her family. There was no one more important than her husband, children, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren. She leaves to them her way of living and loving, a beautiful legacy for her family.
Dodie is survived by her devoted husband, Wayne Eldridge Sr.; her children, Kathy Whitley (Elvin) and Paul Eldridge Jr. (Leticia); her grandchildren, Carly Eldridge and Tyler Whitley; her great-grandchildren, Olivia and Ayden Eldridge; her sisters, Tina Rademeyer (Michael) and Fran Faherty (Bill); and many more loving family members and friends.
Dodie is preceded in death by her parents, Rex and Dolores; and her sister, Claire Schlechta.
