Douglas “Doug” Wayne Parker, 66, of New Harmony, IN passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, after an extended period of illness with his daughter and wife by his side.
Doug was born August 29, 1959 in Evansville, IN to Donald and Shirley Ann (Martin) Parker. He graduated from New Harmony High School in 1977. Doug was well known in the heavy construction and excavation business while devoting his life to the operation of D.K. Parker Company, founded by his parents Don and Shirley. Doug had the special talent of being able to make anything “do” in a pinch, utilizing what he had on hand or what he was able to utilize out of the Bone Yard to make a tool or finish a job.
Doug is survived by his wife of 30 years, Deborah (Harvey) Parker; daughter, Melissa Williams (Kent) of Carmi, IL; a cousin that was more like a son, Brad Parker (Valerie) of New Harmony; brother, David Parker of New York; and a special caretaker, Betty Barnett. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Bart Robinson (Laurie), Keith Robinson (Samantha), and Matthew Robinson (Kevin); grandchildren, Quaid, Kyla Sue, and Cameron Williams; and step-grandchildren, Joel, Jude, and Braxton Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Dee Ann Patterson (2020).
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the Rapp-Owen Granary, 413 Granary Street, New Harmony, IN 47631, with Pastor Keith Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Poseyville Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2025, at the Rapp-Owen Granary and again from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at the Rapp-Owen Granary.
