E. Eileen (Byes) Memmer

E. Eileen (Byes) Memmer, age 95, of Evansville, IN, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2022, at home.

She was born in Posey County, Indiana on November 20, 1927, to the late Elsie Grigsby Byes and Jesse Byes. She attended Owensville High graduating in 1945. She married Francis Memmer on December 26, 1949. Together they co-founded Memmer Tile and Marble, Inc. and worked together until her husband’s death in 1996. Eileen loved flowers and loved watching the hummingbirds feed at her feeders.  She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up.

Eileen is survived by her daughters, Vicki Bernard (Ben) of Mandeville, LA, and Jan Memmer of Evansville; her son, Brent Memmer (Julie) of Evansville; five grandchildren, Karen Desselles (Robert) of Folsom, LA, Katie Rowe (Daniel) of Ridgefield, CT, Kristen Miner (Jeffery) of Metairie, LA, John Memmer (Austin) of Chattanooga, TN, and Sarah Memmer of Los Angeles, CA, and six great grandchildren, Claire and Andrew Desselles, Jack, Dylan and Molly Rowe, and Jeffery Miner and brother, Fred Byes.

Eileen is preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. Memmer; sisters, Rosanel Higginson and Anita Williams; and brothers, Franklin Byes and Donald Byes.

The family would like to thank Deaconess Hospice (especially Jerrel Miskimen) for caring for her for the last one and half years and also her loving caregiver, Melissa Wall and special friend, Renee Rump.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Kris Holzmeyer officiating. Entombment will be in Park Lawn Mausoleum.

Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
