Edward Joseph Kiegel, age 87, of Evansville, IN. passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at River Pointe Health Campus.
Ed was born on December 7, 1934, to the late Albert and Leona (Hall) Kiegel. He graduated from Elberfeld High School in 1953. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Daylight.
He met and married a skinny little farm girl, Betty Zimmerman, in 1956. They would go on to have three children, Jim, Sherry, and Rick. He was a carpenter by trade. He would build houses on the weekdays (his passion) and farm evenings and weekends (her passion). They were married 45 years before she passed away from Breast Cancer in 2001. In 2002, he married Linnie. They were married 19 years when she passed away in November of 2021.
Surviving Ed are sons, James Kiegel (Cindy) of Chandler, IN, Rick Kiegel (Julia) of Baltimore, MD; daughter, Sherry Schapker (Randy) of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Matt Kiegel (Jane), Tim Kiegel, Nathan Kiegel, Sarah Kiegel, Sam Kiegel, Terri Wichman (Kevin), Michelle Schneider (Jake), and Mike Schapker (Glenda); and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents; first wife Betty, second wife Linnie; brothers, Roger and Ray; and sisters, Kate, Jean, Peggy, and Anna Mae.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 26, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 5301 Daylight Drive, Evansville with Father Chris Forler officiating. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery in Elberfeld, IN.
Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, and from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Friday, August 26, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
