Edward Lee Sellner, age 89, of Evansville, IN, formerly of Mt. Vernon, IN, passed away at 7:41 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at home, surrounded by his family.
Ed was born November 16, 1932, in Mt. Vernon, IN, to Carl M. Sellner and Nellie M. (Chandler) Stratton. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and was a Veteran in the United States Navy, serving from 1951-1953. Ed was a salesman and business owner, and he worked as a Fabricator for Husks Signs for 15 years before retiring. Ed had such a positive attitude, he loved witty jokes and Edwardisms, and his motto was “It ain’t no hill for a stepper and I’m a stepper.” He enjoyed horse racing, billiards, breakfast club with family, was dedicated to exercise, enjoyed activities at SWIRCA, and especially enjoyed time spent with his long-time friend, Martha Baize.
Ed is survived by his daughters, Susan Garner (Robert), Sharon Oliva (Antonio), Sandra Husk (Kip), and Shelia Laughlin (Corey); 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and siblings, Gary Turner, Ralph “Sonny” Turner, Toni Roach, Tom Meissner, John Sellner, James Sellner, Sue Sellner Leff, Louise Suits, and Linda Sellner Dickerson.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Carl Sellner and Nellie Stratton; beloved wife of 50 years, Georgia Etta Faye (Eckels) Sellner; grandsons, Matthew Antonio Oliva and Jace Douglas Shockley; and siblings, Donald Ray Sellner, Mary Ruth Greenwell, Robert Turner, Margie Stratton, Paul Sellner, and Judy Sellner Phillips.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2022, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, with Father Steve Lintzenich and Chris Oliva officiating.
