Edward Leon Upton

Edward Leon Upton, age 83, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital.

Edward was born January 18, 1938, in Petersburg, IN, to Sidney and Grace (Catt) Upton. He graduated from Petersburg High School and McNiese State University with a degree in Mortuary Science. Edward completed 25 years of service as a Funeral Director with Hixson Funeral Homes. After the death of his wife in 1978, he worked for Zapata Drilling Co. of Houston, TX in offshore operations in the Gulf of Mexico for 15 years. Edward enjoyed attending auctions and playing the organ. He was a member of the Southern Gospel Music Association and attended the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, KY every year. Edward was a born again Christian and observed over 50 years in church activities and attendance. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Evansville.

Edward is survived by his nieces, Cathy Cannon and Alycia Church.

Edward is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna Upton; sisters, Hazel, Edith, and Kathryn; and brothers, Joseph, Eugene, Fred, Richard, and John.

Private burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, IN.
