Elda Ree (Hope) Casey-Piper, age 88, of Henderson, KY, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024, at home, with her family by her side.
Ree was born February 4, 1936, in Drakesboro, KY, to Otto and Trumma (Childers) Hope. She graduated from Drakesboro High School in 1953. She was a Kentucky Colonel and a faithful member of Evansville United Christian Fellowship Church for almost 70 years. Ree worked as a Nurse’s Assistant for St. Mary’s Hospital, and she retired from the Newborn Special Care Nursery in 2002 where she loved to rock those babies. Ree was an avid cook whose fried chicken, chocolate pies, and homemade fudge was desired by all who tasted it. She loved feeding people and there was always room at the table for one or ten more. No one left hungry!
Ree is survived by her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 8 years, James Piper; daughters, Sheree Fulkerson and Sandra Jo Casey; step-daughters, Mary Ann Bryan (Doug) and Susan Coffey; son, Stephen Casey (Wendy Lea), step-sons, David Piper, Chris Piper (Kathy); grandchildren, Jennifer Frields, Andrew “AJ” Casey (Megan), Matthew Casey (Amanda), and Adam Casey; step grandchildren, Rachel Kress (Connor) and Sarah Piper; and great grandchildren, Alana Jackson, Sherea ReeRee Jackson, Emerson Casey, and Blythe Casey.
Ree is preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Trumma Hope; son, Scott Casey; brothers, Otto Hope, Jr., Howard Hope, and Herbert Hope; and infant sister, Betty Lou Hope.
