Elmore Hoosier, Jr., age 89, of Evansville, IN, passed peacefully on September 11, 2020, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Elmore was born on February 28, 1931. Evansville, IN to Elmore Hoosier, Sr. and Myrtle (Dorsey) Hoosier. He graduated from Lincoln High School. He worked for 33 years for Whirlpool Corporation. He was a veteran of the Korean War and specialized in heavy artillery. Elmore was an avid sports fan and loved the San Francisco Giants. He enjoyed listening/discussing jazz, and enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.
Elmore is survived by his four daughters; Sheryl Hoosier, Sondra Hoosier, Linda Hoosier, and Elnora Hoosier. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Elmore was also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Elmore is preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years; Ollie Virgina (Garrett) Hoosier, his parents; Elmore Hoosier Sr., and Myrtle (Dorsey) Hoosier, and two sisters; Naomi Bibbs and Jeanette Hopkins, and brother; William Hoosier.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September, 15, 2020, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery where American Legion Kapperman Post 44 will render full military rites.
Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.
The family would like to acknowledge the Evansville Veterans Hospital, especially Dr. Henry Davis, Deaconess Visiting Nurse & Hospice and staff for the compassion and care that was given to our father during his journey. The family would also like to thank the staff of North Park Rehabilitation and St. Vincent Hospital.
