Ethelyn "Carol" Knollman Obituary

Ethelyn Carol (Selby) Knollman, age 93, of Evansville, IN passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Heart to Heart Hospice House.

Carol was born October 10, 1931, in Winslow, IN, to Elliott and Mildred (Wells) Selby. She attended Winslow High School and enjoyed participating in alumni events with her school friends for many years. She earned her Cosmetology License, working as a Master Hair Stylist, beginning her career at Bee's Beauty Salon in 1954. She started working with her aunt and took ownership of the salon in 1966.  In 1972, she opened Carol's Hairport where she worked until she sold her salon in 2006.  She also added an additional location known as The Emporium Hair Salon in Newburg, IN in 1976. Her daughter eventually took ownership of this business and Carol worked at her daughter's establishment from 2006 to 2013. She was very compassionate and often picked up her clients or went to the homes of those who were unable to drive to the salon.  She wanted everyone to feel loved and be beautiful.  Carol was very active in the National Association of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists.

She was formerly a faithful member of Fairlawn United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and served on the church board.  She was also actively involved in Eastside Civitan for many years.  She enjoyed attending plays, musicals, Evansville philharmonic concerts and was a member of the Musician's Club. She was a cheerleader from her school days through to her great grandparent years and could be spotted at a variety athletic or fine arts events cheering on her family.  She loved family get-togethers with singing, playing piano and dancing. She hosted a plethora of holiday celebrations in her home where everyone received a warm greeting and gift.  Carol will be remembered for her bright smile, fashionable wardrobe, stylish jewelry, infectious laugh and unending kindness.  She was beautiful inside and out and her passion for life will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Carol is survived by her daughters, Cinda Rich and husband Jerry Rich of Santa Claus, IN, Diane Roe Hanes and husband Bob Kinkle of Evansville, IN, and Natalie Roe Swaney and husband Patrick Swaney of Booneville, IN; sons, David Roe and wife Janet Roe of Morganfield, KY, Kim Knollman of Evansville, IN, Steve Roe and wife Hope Roe of Naples, FL; 19 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.
