Fred Bowlby Obituary

Fred L. Bowlby, age 77, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 12:10 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the Evansville Protestant Home.

Fred was born June 29, 1945, in Monticello, IL, to George and Pauline (Smith) Bowlby. He graduated from Lawrenceville High School and was a Veteran in the United States Marines, serving during Vietnam. He worked in construction for the Nuclear Power Plant in Clinton, IL. He also practiced real estate and was a member of the Labor Hall Local 561. Fred savored the tranquility of nature. He especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. In his younger years, he aided his father in digging shells from the Walbash River.

Fred is survived by his brothers, Frank Bowlby, Walter Bowlby, George Bowlby, Eldridge “Elroy” Bowlby, Shannon Bowlby, David Bowlby, and Daniel “Danny” Bowlby; and sister, Shirley Coffey.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents, George and Pauline Bowlby; sisters, Evelyn Christopher and Mary Jane Bowlby; and brother, Harold Eugene Bowlby.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Rose Hill Cemetery, Newburgh, IN, where the American Legion Kapperman Post 44 will render full military rites.
