Fred R. Thompson

Fred R. Thompson, age 83, of Newburgh, IN, passed away Friday, November 7, 2025, at Heart to Heart Hospice House.

Fred was born February 6, 1942, in Evansville, IN, to Clifford and Bessie (Duncan) Thompson. He graduated from North High School in 1960. Fred served in the United States Air Force and worked as an electrician at Alcoa where he retired in 2005. He was a member of Abundant Life Community Church for 20 years. Fred enjoyed making model trains and cars.

Fred is survived by his sons, Ronnie Thompson and Kevin Thompson (Charlotte); sister, Barbara Keller; grandchildren, Jessica (Preston), Brittany (Erik), Larry, and Lydia (Jeff); 13 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 51 years, Mary (Taylor) Thompson; sons, Keith Thomspon and Jimmy Thompson; grandson, Kody Simon; and great granddaughter, Izzy Keltner.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Chad DeTalente officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery where the American Legion Kapperman Post #44 will render military rites.

Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time., Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
