GSCM Matthew J. Lyczak, III. (SW) USN, RET., age 68, of Newburgh, IN, passed peacefully Monday, November 2, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.
Matthew was born October 31, 1952, in Riverside, New Jersey, to Matthew J. Lyczak, Jr. and Betty Joyce (Fleming) Lyczak. He graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1970 and attended Rutgers University. Matthew joined the Navy in 1971 and retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer in 1994 after 23 years of honorable service. A lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan, his loyalty never wavered for the team. He said he had lived a full life after they had won the super bowl. Matt cherished his wife, loved his two daughters (Laura and Megan) beyond measure and adored his three grandchildren.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 35 years, Latonia (Stamper) Lyczak; two daughters, Laura and Megan Lyczak; and grandchildren, Carson, Melanie and Lucy Buschman.
Matthew is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Matthew J. Lyczak, Sr. and Jennie Lyczak; father in law, Ralph Stamper; mother in law, Roberta Wilcox Vaughn and brother, Stephen Lyczak.
Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville. American Legion Kapperman Post #44 will render full military rites with the United States Navy presenting the flag.
Friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until time of service Saturday, November, 7, 2020, at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.
