Gary W. Meece, age 74, of Evansville, IN, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, Saturday, October 26, 2024.
Gary was born October 1, 1950, in Chrisney, IN, to the late William “Bill” and Golda (Blackwell) Meece. He graduated from Dale High School, IN in 1968. Gary loved meeting his buddies, Bill and Stan, at McDonald’s every morning. He retired from Guardian Automotive after 32 years in August 2005. He loved collecting shot glasses. He was an avid sports fan of the Miami Dolphins Football, IU Basketball and Football, Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball and an all time NASCAR fan of Jeff Gordon. He also loved karaoke and dearly loved his family and spending time with everyone.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years, Anita (Walker) Meece; children, Kim Coffelt (Jon), Shawn Meece (Shannon), and Ryne Meece (Heather); step-daughters, Chasity Fingers and Charity Shahin (Garland); aunt, Sharon Dugas; brothers, Don Meece (Martha), Bill Meece (Chelly), and Earl Meece (Jane); grandchildren, Megan, Tanner, Landon, Ashley, Moriah, Adam, Gabbie, Conner, and Luke ; great grandchildren, Joslyn, Destiny, Gunner, Aiden, Gavin, Ma’Reyah, Ke’Lynn, La’Myis, and Messiah; and several nieces and nephews.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Larry, Jimmy, Kenny, Frankie, Pearl, and Faye.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend Tuffy Blackwell officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
The family would like to thank the staff of Gentiva Hospice Care for their compassionate care.
