Geraldine Jenkins (née Downs), age 81, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Wyndmoor of Evansville.
Geraldine was born April 16, 1944, in Geneva, Kentucky, to George and Katie Lee (King) Downs. She graduated from Sebree High School in 1963. Geraldine worked for Anchor Industries for 11 years before beginning her long career at Don’s Cleaners in 1982, where she remained until her retirement in 2014.
A talented seamstress, she designed custom-made draperies for local decorators and enjoyed creating beautiful quilts and crafts. Geraldine was entrusted with doing alterations on Taylor Swifts’ dress when doing a concert in Evansville. Her creativity, attention to detail, and love for handmade work were evident in everything she made.
Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Stacey Glover (Paul); stepson, Terry Jenkins; brother, Jeff Downs; grandchildren, Allison Garrison (Tiye), Rachael Oakley, Deann Buckalew (Delmas), Tiffany Perkins (Billy), Natasha Creekmur (Kevin), Taylor Nguyen (Daniel), Sky-lyn Glover, Hannah Glover (Juan), Kayleigh Schultheis (Austin); great grandchildren, Harley, Raelyn, Maeve; twenty-six step great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and fur baby, Spotty.
Geraldine is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Donald Jenkins; stepson, Gary Jenkins; stepdaughter, Janet Jenkins; four sisters and five brothers.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Wyndmoor and St. Croix Hospice for their special care.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Jeff Downs officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
