Gisela A. Richert

Gisela A. Richert, 95, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on January 18, 1931, Gisela lived a long, vibrant life marked by adventure, devotion, and community service.

In 1952, Gisela embarked on a life-changing journey, immigrating from Berlin, Germany, to the United States alongside her beloved husband, Walter. The move followed Walter's yearlong foreign exchange studies at Evansville University. Together, they built a beautiful life in Princeton spanning seven decades until Walter's passing in 2023.

Gisela possessed a deep passion for exploration and travel. She joyfully accompanied Walter on numerous around-the-world trips for Potter & Brumfield, experiencing cultures across the globe. Despite her extensive world travels, her most cherished journeys were always the trips back to Germany to visit her beloved family.

Closer to home, Gisela found immense joy in the simple beauties of life. She was an avid gardener and a talented needlepoint artist. Deeply committed to helping others, she dedicated over 40 years of her life volunteering as a Pink Lady at Gibson General Hospital, bringing comfort and warmth to countless patients and families.

Gisela leaves behind her daughter and caregiver, Karin, granddaughter Elisabeth, great-grandson Aiden; and son, Peter, and his wife, Cheryl; She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, and her son-in-law, Randy, who passed away in 2025.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gisela’s life at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, Indiana with Chaplain Tara Powell officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by funeral services at 3:00 p.m. There will be a Private Burial at a later date, where Gisela will be laid to rest beside her husband at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Evansville.

Though she traveled the world, Gisela’s greatest legacy was the love she gave so freely to her family, friends, and community. Her gentle spirit, generous heart, and enduring grace will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
