Godfrey Ikechukwu Egwu, Jr.

Godfrey Ikechukwu Egwu Jr, 42, was unexpectedly taken from this world too soon on Friday, February 24, 2023. Godfrey had an infectious smile and a heart of gold, and he would do anything for anybody. The world has unfortunately, lost a man that Loved wholeheartedly. He was a great father, son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend.

Godfrey was born on January 30, 1981, in Houston, TX, to father, Godfrey Ikechukwu Egwu and mother, Christiana Adaeze Akpujekwu. Shortly after birth, he moved to Nigeria with his parents. He attended Air Academy Highschool and Federal University of Technology. He moved to Evansville, IN, in 2001, to continue his secondary education at University of Southern Indiana. He loved to learn and challenged himself daily - he has a binder that is filled with diplomas to attest for that. In his spare time, he also enjoyed playing pool, learning the intricate details of electronic devices, listening to music and cooking. He made time for everyone and encouraged them along their own journey. If you asked Godfrey about his greatest accomplishments, his answer wasn’t about his accolades or his impressive athletic skills; it was being a father. He Loved the best way He knew how and everything he did were for his daughters. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden passing, and he is greatly missed.

Godfrey leaves behind to cherish his memory, his mother, Christiana of Nigeria; sister, Amaka of Nigeria; brother, Arinze of Nigeria; daughters, Laila and Iza’bella of Evansville, IN; fiancée, Talesha of Evansville, IN; and a host of uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Godfrey Egwu.

A Private Family Ceremony will be held Friday, March 10, 2023, Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, Evansville, IN. He will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville, IN.
