Harold L. Mayhugh, age 75, of Evansville, IN, ran out of gas and passed away peacefully at 11:30 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2019, at his home surrounded by family, after his battle with cancer.
Harold was born February 2, 1944, in Central City, KY, to Roy H. and Mary Lou Mayhugh. He graduated from Central High School in 1962. Harold made his start at Center Town Motors on Division & Vine, with his brother Darrell. He was owner and operator of Mayhugh Auto Sales at Columbia & Fares for 30 years. Harold’s whole life revolved around helping others, and enjoying his time with loved ones. A perfect day for Harold would be riding his motorcycle to his pontoon boat, cruising the Ohio river and listening to Nascar Races. If he wasn’t listening to the rumbling of the racetracks, he was selling you a car from his car lot, or reminiscing of his time at the Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN.
Harold is survived by his daughter, Amy Mayhugh and Son-in-law Daniel Phillips; daughters, Gwen Moore (Randy), Kathy Mann (Kirk), Joan Taylor (Larry); and Clifford Johns; Sister, Carolyn Brown; brother, Darell Mayhugh; grandchildren, Randy Gregg, Hope Phillips, Emilee Cummins, Brandon Johnson, Zachary Mann, Nicholas Mann, Chaz Moore, Chelsea Moore; Great-grandchildren, Milah Grace Chamlee, Easton Joseph Gregg, Landon Jay Dimmett; and special friends including Chris Brown and Susie Kasinger. He is also survived by many friends and family who loved him and whom he loved. Too many to mention.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Hurbert Cook Mayhugh and nephew William Curtis Mayhugh.
