Ida Mae Willis Obituary

Ida Mae (Rigg) Willis, 86, of Evansville, IN passed away on December 11, 2020.  Ida Mae was born in Mt. Carmel, IL to Gladys and Albert Rigg.  She graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1952 and from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in 1955.  She worked at Deaconess Hospital as a registered nurse for 46 years until her retirement in 2002. 

Nursing was Ida Mae’s passion.  She loved her three daughters and was very proud of her five grandchildren.  She enjoyed traveling, going to ballgames, and always rooted for her beloved St. Louis Cardinals.  In her retirement, she volunteered at The Good Samaritan Home.  She was a charter member and continued to attend First Christian Church, Newburgh and often volunteered at its affiliate Camp Illiana in Washington, IN.

Ida Mae is survived by her daughters Kathi Rougon of Nashville, TN, Krista Libbert (Kerry) of Jasper, IN, and Kerri Willis (Matt Budzik) of Simsbury, CT; five grandchildren Alyssa, Cameron, and Corbin Libbert and Caitlin and Connor Budzik; sister Faye Sheley (Ron) of Taylorville, IL; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Mary Alice Peterson; brothers Frank, Sam, Hamilton, Fred Brines, and Albert Rigg Jr.; and her son-in-law Stan Rougon. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. CT on Wednesday, December 16 at Boone Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville.  A live stream will be available beginning 20 minutes prior to the service time.  Please visit www.boonefuneralhome.net, select Ida Mae’s obituary and click livestream.  Burial will be in Lick Prairie Cemetery in Mt.
