Ima Jean Ping Obituary

Ima Jean (Lee) Ping, age 90, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the Heritage Center in Evansville, IN.

Ima Jean was born on April 8, 1932 in Greenville, KY, to Charles E. and Lola M. (Danner) Lee. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, where she served on the church luncheon committee for several years. Ima Jean was a life member of the Gibson Area Hospital Auxiliary, Brotherton-Keller V.F.W. Post #6289 Ladies Auxiliary, and the American Legion Post #568 Ladies Auxiliary. She married Laurel E. Ping on June 16, 1950, in Harvey, IL.

Mrs. Ping and her husband were in the plumbing and heating business for many years. She retired in 1997 from her position in social services at Heritage Manor in Gibson City. She had a tremendous love for her family and was kind to everyone. Ima Jean enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Florida.

Ima Jean is survived by her sister, Anna Mae Seay; nieces and nephews, Ron Gaudio (Beth), Debbie Stacey, Tom Lantz (Connie), Ray Lantz (Trudy), Doug Lantz (Teri), Pam Bradbury (Craig), Dan Lee (Jan), Michael Seay (Renee), Steve Seay (Teril), David Roy, Teresa Ferguson and Kim Ferguson.

Ima Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lola Lee; husband, Laurel Ping, who passed away in 1996; brother, Wilbert Lee; and sisters, Fayetta Roy and Oleta Lantz.

Private Funeral Services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery in Gibson City, IL.

The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff at Holly Brook in Gibson City, her home for the past few years.
