Imelda “Darlene” (Hurm) Decker, age 78, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Monday, June 15, 2026, at Bethel Manor in Evansville, Indiana.
Darlene was born October 10, 1947, in Saint Joseph, Kentucky, to Linus and Martine (Ralph) Hurm. To many of the people that loved her, she was known as Tootsie. She graduated from Bosse High School in 1965. Afterwards, she moved into management and found herself working in various retail stores. Darlene loved her card games, especially Clabber. She was an avid reader and owned many John Grisham books. Often, you could find her catching up on her sitcoms; like Cheers, Desperate Housewives, and Happy. Outside of enjoying her shows, she loved arguing her politics. It wasn’t about who was right or wrong, it was about the topic at hand, she loved having something to be passionate about. The top of her cake however, was her family. Darlene loved her kids, and she loved her grandkids, especially Jacob, because as they all know…”he was her favorite.” Darlene was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and so much more. She leaves a legacy of love and kindness, an example of how to be silly and enjoy life, and for this, Darlene will never be forgotten.
Darlene is survived by her children, Lisa McLain (Aaron) and Keith Powell (Tracie); her grandchildren, Chelsea Ballis (Dakota), Jacob Powell, Alexandria Sharp (Andrew), and Alexis Thompson (Dannie); her great grandchildren, Liam, Gemma, Rosie, Weston, and Lorelai; her siblings, Doris Hurm and Francis “Bernie” Hurm; and many more loving family members and friends.
Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, Linus and Elizabeth Hurm; her sister, Barb Pearson, and her brothers, Raymond “Jerry” Hurm, Lonnie Hurm, Donnie Hurm, and George Hurm.
