Jack Caine Obituary

Jack E. Caine, age 92, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 10:55 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.

Jack was born February 19, 1927, in Evansville, IN, to the late John and Emma (Yunker) Caine. He graduated from Central High School and graduated from Evansville College with his undergraduate degree in History. Jack played basketball for the Aces. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree and Law Degree from Indiana University in Indianapolis. Jack was a World War II Veteran in the United States Army Air Force where he served on the 20th B29 Squadron in Guam. He was a lifelong resident of Evansville and served one term as an elected State Representative from 1954 – 1955. Jack had a solo law practice from 1955 to 2000 before retiring at the age of 75 after 50 years of practice. He was a Hadi Shrine member and loved people, and he truly enjoyed helping them. Jack was a member of the committee to re-elect President Kennedy: Citizens for Kennedy and Johnson. He personally met and talked with JFK and was invited to John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson’s inauguration and the inaugural ball.

Jack loved to sing and was part of a Barbershop Quartet. He loved playing cards and was a member of his poker group for 50 years. He was an avid dancer. Jack also enjoyed whitewater canoeing, camping in the Ozarks, and spending time in his cabin in Pike County. Other pastimes include auctions, antiques, reading, storytelling, world traveling, and oriental rug collecting. Jack was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He also loved his dogs, Maggie and Paxton.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Beverly M. (Schnepper) Caine; daughters, Sally Caine of Indianapolis, IN, and Carolyn Caine of Shelbyville, IN; son, Stephen M. Caine (Ann) of Pasedena, CA; step-sons, Michael Hawes (Linda) of Greenwood, IN, Gregory Hawes (Lesa) of Alexandria, KY, and David Hawes of Evansville, IN; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and dogs, Maggie and Paxton.

No Funeral Services and Burial will be Private.

Arrangements are being handled by Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN.
