Jimmy was born February 17, 1962, in Evansville, IN, to James D. Mastison, Sr. and M. “Irene” (Dexter) Mastison. He graduated from Harrison High School in 1980. Jimmy is a Second Generation Firefighter. He was appointed Probationary Firefighter in 1984, First Class Firefighter in 1985, assigned to Ambulance as an EMT in 1985, promoted to Lieutenant in 1990, and promoted to Captain in 2014. During his career, he was nominated for Firefighter of the Year, he served on the Honor Guard, and he was a Rope Specialist, Hazmat Tech, and a Certified Diver. After 35 years of service, he retired in 2019 from Station 14s. He continued in his service to the Evansville Fire Department by serving as the Firefighter Merit Commissioner.
Jimmy loved roller skating and was one of the original Rink Rats – he met the love of his life at United Skates of America back in 1976. In his younger years, Jimmy and Robyn formed a Club named “Cimarron” where they taught Line Dancing. His hobbies became a little more expensive as he grew older. He later loved riding Harleys and was part of the HOG Club. He later switched to something a little safer when he purchased his first Corvette and joined the Tri-State Corvette Club. During this time, he formed several close friendships, who call themselves the Late Nite Crew. Through these friendships, Jimmy became an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Robyn Lynne (Adcock) Mastison; son, David Mastison (Amanda); daughter, Krystal Hebbeler (Greg); brother, Mark Mastison (Cathy); grandchildren, Jordyn Benson (Bradin), Mykah Brown, Hayden Mastison, Gage Mastison, and Cam Brown.
