James "Jim" "Pete" Elkins

James “Jim” “Pete” Elkins, age 93, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at the Evansville Protestant Home.

James was born April 27, 1929, in Madisonville, KY, to James N. and Myrtle (Carter) Elkins. He graduated from Madisonville High School. James worked for Creative Press from 1950-1956 and for Evansville Printing Corp in the Composing Room for 37 years before retiring in 1994.

James is survived by his daughters, Melanie Lloyd (Scott) and Linda Murphy (Michael); sons, David Elkins (Donna) and Daniel Elkins; grandchildren, Andy Elkins (Jamie), Casey Elkins (Candice), Emily Schmidt (Sean), Tom Lloyd, Olivia Fitzpatrick (Michael), Alex Roll (Branee), and Bryant Elkins (Debra); and great grandchildren, Caitlynn (Cole), Cole, Cooper, Ethan, Jaxon, Eva, Jacob, Grant, Moses, Sansa, and David.

James is preceded in death by his parents, James and Myrtle Elkins, his beloved wife, Marjorie Jean (Gaither) Elkins, who passed away in 2004; sister, Dorothy Wiles; and brother, David Elkins.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Michael Fitzpatrick officiating.
