Jane Ball Obituary

Jane Shibley Ball, age 92, of Evansville, IN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2020, at River Pointe Health Campus.

Jane was born October 3, 1927, in Moberly, MO to Jesse Albert Shibley and Ruby (Johnson) Shibley. She graduated from Carrollton Missouri High School, William Woods College in Fulton MO, and the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO.

She taught Social Studies in St. Louis County and at Central High School in Evansville. She had been a charter member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church – long time choir member and Sunday School teacher. She was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church.

Jane was also a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority, a great books study group, and a past board member of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. She had been a Cub Scout den mother. Jane was a 72-year member of P.E.O., an organization very dear to her. She was an avid gardener and Cardinal Baseball fan. She loved to travel, bird watching and enjoyed her two miniature schnauzers.

Jane is survived by her sons Richard (Deborah) and Michael (Cindi) of Evansville, IN, grandson Christopher (Brooke) great grandchildren Evan and Katelyn of Stowe MA, and grandson Mathew (Bri) of Alburtis, PA. Jane is also survived by her brother in law H.E. “Bud” Ball of Carrollton, MO, and nephew Robert (Colleen) of Leavenworth, KS, a great niece and nephew, Laura and Ryan and their families.

Jane is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, William “Duke” Ball, her parents, her sister Anne Ball, and a nephew Steven Ball.

A private service for immediate family was held Thursday, March 26, 2020, at Park Lawn Cemetery.

Special thanks to all the caregivers at River Pointe Health Campus, who showed “Miss Jane “ much love and compassion.
