Janice Elaine Kinney, 90, of Evansville, Indiana passed away June 22, 2022 at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare after a very brief illness. She was surrounded by loved ones during her illness and passing.
Jan was born June 21, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to Rev. Shirley and Alberta Morgan. Jan moved to Carrabelle, Florida one year ago to live with her family. Jan attended the University of Evansville and received her master’s degree from Indiana University. She was an elementary school teacher in Evansville, Indiana for over 30 years. She taught at Glenwood and Scott Elementary Schools. She was a member of AAUW and Delta Kappa Gamma where she was past-president. During her teen and college years she was very active in church camps. She attended St. James East UMC and McCutchanville UMC where she was still a member. She had also been a member of the University of Evansville choir and church choirs. She was an avid reader, loved traveling and the beach, and enjoyed playing games. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Shirley and Alberta Morgan and her husband of 51 years, Donald Kinney. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Willett and son-in-law, Patrick Willett; grandchildren, Tara, Kelsey, Jared and granddaughter-in-law Brittany, and Trevor; great-grandchildren, Kaley, Aubrey, Raelynn, Nora, Colton, and Emmett; and many more special family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:30 pm, Friday, July 8, 2022 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel-A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Rev. Bob Simpkins officiating. Private entombment will be in Oak Hill Mausoleum in Evansville, Indiana.
Friends may visit from 4:30 pm until 6:30 pm, Friday, July 8, 2022 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel with the Celebration of Life beginning at 6:30 pm.
