Jeff A. Fiedler, age 64, of Newburgh, IN, passed away Monday, July 25, 2022, surrounded by his family at a hospice center in Nashville, TN, after a short battle with cancer.
Jeff was born December 3, 1957, in Evansville, IN, to the late Joseph A. “Buck” and Rita (Mills) Fiedler. He graduated from Memorial High School in 1977 where he played football. Jeff went on to enter the pipe trades school to become a Journeyman Plumber for Local 136. He worked in many area hospitals as a commercial plumber. Jeff attended The Hills Church and was a previous member of First Christian Church in Newburgh.
Throughout his life he participated in several ministries including Walk to EMMAUS and mission trips to orphanages in Jamaica. He and his wife retired early and enjoyed taking trips to unique cabins in the mountains, Shawnee National Forest and to Nashville, IN, as well as trips to the ocean in many places. Lakes, mountains, and oceans were peaceful places where this man could slow down and stop fixing things.
He was an avid boater for 40 years and enjoyed his waterfront Lake Barkley getaway for 28 years in Kuttawa, KY at Iron Hill. He enjoyed IU basketball, rebuilding cars and making his grandkids laugh. There was nothing their Papaw couldn’t fix. Jeff helped remodel his daughter’s house and, alongside his son, helped build Adam’s new home in the last year of his life. Always a perfectionist, his work was impeccable.
Jeff and Barb made countless mission trips to Mandeville, Jamaica over a 10-year period where many of the boys of St. John Bosco still held his heart and still called him 7 years after their last trip. Jeff became a Jamerican.
In recent years he achieved his dream of owning a Harley Davidson and enjoyed riding with his brother.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Barbara (Moye) Fiedler; daughter, Dana Spivey (Casey); son, Adam Fiedler (Courtney); grandchildren, Reese, Dax, Cash, and Hayden; and brothers, Mike Fiedler (Charlene) and Larry Fiedler (Joyce Day).
