Jeffrey Fischer Obituary

Jeffrey Wayne Fischer, age 56, of Evansville, IN, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025, at home.

Jeff was born April 11, 1968, in Evansville, IN, to the late John A. “Jack” and Nancy M. (Hughes) Fischer. He graduated from North High School and earned his Associate’s Degree from Ivy Tech Community College in Photography and Design. Jeff Retired as Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force after 21 years of service. He joined the Air Force in May 1988, worked as a Fuels Specialist, and his assignments included Pease AFB, NH 1988-1990, Scott AFB, IL 1990-1992, Rhein Main AB, GE 1992-1994, Spangdalem AB, GE 1994-1998, and Barksdale AFB, LA 1998-2009. He served during Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom and was stationed in Kuwait, Iraq, Diego Garcia, Egypt, Honduras, and Germany. During his military career, Jeff received 2 Commendation Medals, 3 Achievement Medals, and he provided Humanitarian Relief during Operation Provide Hope.

Jeff loved his country and after retirement, he continued to serve by working for the Evansville VA Clinic on their Substance Abuse Counseling Team. He had a passion for helping his fellow Veterans find the help they needed. He had a way of being upbeat and straight forward at the same time, and he came to be known as Happy Jeff.

Jeff enjoyed photography, videography, putting together 3-D puzzles, design, music, his fish aquarium, and bird watching with Bella.

Jeff is survived by his brother, John Fischer (Vicki) of Philpot, KY; nieces and nephews, Shree Sargent, John Allen Fischer, and Amanda Moore (Clay); aunt, Edna Young (Benny); uncle, Roy Fischer; a host of cousins; life-long close friend, Chris Hatfield; and his beloved Great Dane, Bella.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. CST, Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN, with Brother James Messer. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park where military rites will be rendered by the American Legion Kapperman Post 44.

Friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until service time CST, Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
