Jenora (Manuel) Doucet

Jenora (Manuel) Doucet, age 85, passed away at 9:25 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023, in Evansville, Indiana.

Jenora was born on September 2, 1937, in Mamou, Louisiana. Her first language was (Cajun) French. She married Nelson Doucet on her birthday in 1959 and raised three children in California.

Jenora was a registered nurse although she never practiced and instead devoted herself as a full-time wife/homemaker. An outstanding cook and very knowledgeable of nutritional food, she was also a master sewer and knitter. She loved to read, write out recipes, sing, and listen to music while enjoying an occasional glass of wine in the afternoon. Through the ups and downs of life and with her own personal struggles, her constant faith in God remained true, to the end.

She was preceded in death by her father, Murphy Manuel, her mother Jimmie Reed, and her husband Nelson. She is survived by her sons, Stephen Neil (Ramona) Doucet, Daniel Scott (Brandie) Doucet, and her daughter, Saundra Kaye (Clinton) Hadley. She has five adult grandchildren and four beautiful great-grandchildren.

Per her request, there will be no formal funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution in her honor to the National Alliance on Mental Illness Organization - a non-profit that is typically overlooked but positively impacted Jenora and her family. Donations may be made online at: NAMI
