John E. Cave, age 87, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 6:15 a.m. on December 14, 2020, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center.
John was born July 20, 1933, in Indianapolis, IN, to James P. Cave and Teresa (Means) Cave. He graduated High School from Arsenal Tech of Indianapolis. John served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 – 1960 during the Korean War Conflict. After returning home, he started the J.E. Cave Pipe Organ Company where he served the tri-state area for over 50 years. John was an avid handyman and woodworker who could fix anything. He was known to say; “We can do anything, even the impossible. It just takes a little longer, that’s all.” He faithfully attended and served at Emanuel Lutheran Church. John was a member of the Evansville Masonic Lodge 64 and Scottish Rite.
John is survived by his sons, Kenneth Cave and Scott Cave (Deneen); daughter, Debra Smithhart; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his parents, James and Teresa; his loving wife of 52 years, Evelyn M. Cave; sons, Paul Cave and Andrew Cave; daughter, Teresa Johns; one great-great grandchild; and 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 308 N. First Avenue, Evansville, IN 47710 with Reverend Jim Culver.
Friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery where the American Legion Kapperman Post 44 will render full military rites.
