John Delker, III Obituary

John Joseph Delker, III, age 75, of Evansville, IN, passed away on March 19, 2026.

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who lived a life centered around family, hard work, and the simple joys that brought people together.

John dedicated much of his life to his passion for the game of golf and the community surrounding it. He served as superintendent at Henderson Country Club in Henderson, Kentucky, and The Summit Country Club in Owensboro, Kentucky, where his hard work and pride in his craft left a lasting impact. In recognition of his dedication and expertise, he was honored as Kentucky Turf Man of the Year in 1999.

Beyond his career, John was known as a phenomenal cook who loved bringing people together around a good meal. He loved gardening and took great pride in maintaining a beautiful home, a reflection of the care and dedication he brought to everything he did. He enjoyed playing games and was fiercely competitive, especially when it came to playing with his granddaughters. Proudly creating a rivalry that brought him great joy.

John  is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Bridwell Delker; his daughter, Lauren Delker Ralph (Derek); and his cherished grandchildren, Izzy, Ali, and Briggs. He is also survived by his sister, Tink Martin (Terry); his brother-in-law, Bill Bridwell (Betsy); and many dear friends including Marcia Coomes, Gene Meyer, Mary and Bill Bennett, and Lindy and Dennis Deusner.
