John Fyffe Obituary

John Allen Fyffe, age 77, of Evansville, IN, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital from congestive heart failure. He was born December 4, 1942, in Bloomington, IN, to William Fyffe and Alice (Allen) Fyffe.

John’s boyhood was spent in Denver, CO. His early years of employment were as a truck driver and working in grocery warehouses. He graduated from Indiana University in 1979. John was a dedicated and compassionate caseworker for 23 years at the Indiana Division of Child Services. He truly enjoyed his work and made a positive influence on many people. John retired in 2003.

John was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. He attended Bible studies throughout his adult life and was a member of Vann Avenue Baptist Church. He had many interests including bicycling, canoeing, fishing and cooking. He was a talented artist and enjoyed painting with oils. John loved dogs and had six special dogs in his life: Sheena, Cloud, Annie, Brooke, Grace and Bonnie.    +

John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Genie (Horn) Fyffe; sons, Russell Fyffe (Darlene) of Boonville, IN and Jeremiah Fyffe (Sandy) of Melbourne, FL. John was blessed with seven grandchildren, James, Allen, Jesse, Elijah, Titus, Solomon and Eliana. John is also survived by his brothers, Tom Fyffe of Rapid City, SD and William Fyffe of Boise, ID.

John is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 12, 2020, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend Matt Higgins officiating. A Live Stream will be available beginning twenty minutes prior to the service time. Please visit Boone Funeral Home’s Facebook page and click on the link provided. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery. 

Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service, Monday, October 12, 2020, at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association at 701 N Weinbach Ave, Evansville, IN 47711.
