John A. Hysell

John Alan Hysell, age 73, of Mt. Vernon, IN, passed away on May 1, 2022, at Mt. Vernon Nursing Home & Rehab.

John was born November 3, 1948, in Rutland, OH, to Walter Hysell and Margaret (Spearhas) Hysell. He graduated from Rutland High School in 1967. After graduation John enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War.  He retired after 31 years from Mead Johnson/Bristol Myers in 2004. John attended God’s Way Church.

John is survived by; son, Scott Hysell (Karen); step-daughter Blonnie Stewart; step-son, Larry Simmons (Heather); sisters, Bonnie Arnold (Bobby), and Lena Napper; grandchildren, Katelyn, Nora, Collin, Molli, and Lucas.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Margaret Hysell; his loving wife of 41 years, Linda (Bolin) Hysell; and brothers, James “Jim” Hysell and infant brother, Jackie Hysell.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2022, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Jim Stuteville officiating. A Live Stream will be available beginning twenty minutes prior to the service time. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery where  American Legion Kapperman Post 44 will render full Military Rites.
