John Roger Norman

John Roger Norman, age 81, of Newburgh, IN, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024, at his home.

John was born February 23, 1943, in Harrisburg, IL, to the late Willard and Noveda (Foster) Norman. He graduated from Reitz High School in 1962 and earned his Bachelors in Liberal Arts from the University of Evansville. John worked for Peabody Coal for nearly 30 years before continuing his career at Lakeshore Mining. He then moved to Alberici Constructors before retiring in 2004. John served in the United States Army from 1963-1966, was a member of Epworth Church, and was active in Point Man Ministries.

John is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jamye (Nichols) Norman; son, Shawn Norman (Mary Lou); sister, Nancy Norman; brother, David (Tia) Norman; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Brennan (Tristan), bonus granddaughter, Taylor Howard; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. John was especially excited to find out he was going to be a great grandfather in March 2025.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

John's family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice and Rafael with At Home Healthcare Equipment for all of their help and care. They would also like to thank all family and friends who were able to come and visit with John or call over the last several weeks.
