John "Jack" Sutherland MacLeod

John Sutherland “Jack” MacLeod, age 84, of Evansville, IN, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Hamilton Pointe, Newburgh, IN. 

Jack was born September 24, 1940, in Indianapolis, IN, to the late Donald Sutherland and Edith (Hall) MacLeod. He graduated from Shortridge High School, earned a bachelor’s degree from  Indiana University, and completed ROTC training. Following graduation, Jack proudly served in the United States Army as a top secret courier based in Frankfort, Germany. After his service, he joined the workforce as the human resources director at Anaconda Wire and Cable until joining the family business, Henry Fligeltaub Company, in 1972.  Along with his long-time business partner, Ron Morgan, he co-owned and was an administrator of several companies in the Evansville, Indiana area including Fligeltaub, Transitional Service Group Homes, TMC Long Distance, Tiger Trash, Heil Waste Management, Southern Charter & Leasing, Intrametco Processing, Klenck Company, and River Bend Metals.  

An avid supporter of the Indiana University athletic programs, Jack enjoyed season tickets to their basketball and football games.  He also enjoyed traveling with his friends overseas to Africa and Europe, and collecting pre-war Lionel trains. 

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Penny (Snow) MacLeod; daughters, Gail Schepers, Debora MacLeod, Jennifer Kopp; sons, Donald MacLeod (Cara) and Doug MacLeod (Kim); grandchildren, Ashley (Kam), D.J. (Andrea), Duncan (Taylor), Matlyn (Rieser), Conner, Kurt, Wyatt, Morgan, Jake, and Emma; and 4 great grandchildren. 

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Edith. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Steve Clayton officiating. Burial will be private. 

Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until service time, Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
